Got the paperwork for the Q45 yesterday.  Leafing through it, I see an oddity - someone’s death certificate?? indeed so.  Seems the prior owner was a lady who recently passed away, and that’s why the car was on the market.

The lady was a few years younger than Mom, and lost a seven-year battle with … breast cancer.

I really have no idea what I should be feeling about this.

So, went to see the Simpsons movie on the weekend.

In my defense, we were pretty bored.

I was expecting dumb slapstick and we got that.  Lots of very funny stuff, it must be said.

But why must they feel it necessary to have the mocking of Christianity be a major theme of the movie???*  and it was a major theme, not just a dash here and a pinch there.  Have to say, if it had been the “religion of peace” du jour they offended instead, there would be hundreds dead already from the “protests” (riots).

Funnily enough though, Grandpa Simpson’s prophecies that he spoke in his “Holy Ghost fit” actually all came true.  Which is more than you can say for the vast majority of real life Pentecostal “prophecies”.

*yes, don’t answer that, we all already know.

Well you don’t get too many days like this one!

First item on the agenda was the Morden Triathlon. Everything went smoothly, pretty much … and we won! I was not too surprised by it, although I was surprised by how slow the cycling field was - however, I didn’t have to run 10.5k after the bike, and most of the rest of them did. So that’s understandable. Beautiful day for it, gotta say the whole thing was pretty much flawless front to back. I didn’t have a computer on my bike, so I don’t yet know my exact time (they didn’t post relay results on the results board … slackers). Should know soon. It was just over 50 minutes I think, for the 30k.

And then:

I bought a car! Yup, the endless string of boring “car search” posts can now be concluded (you think your sigh of relief is big, how about mine?!). It’s a Q45. Bought on ebay. I didn’t at all expect to win the auction. It was sitting at $5000, and I sniped it for $5200 max bid … and ended up winning it for $5100. Seriously, who gives themselves that little margin??? Oh well, works for me. Here she be:

So now I have to send a certified cheque; that’ll be done Monday; and also arrange shipping, which should also be done Monday. Hopefully shipping doesn’t take too long.

Car search continues to go through more twists and turns than an Appalachian backroad. Just discovered that 3rd gen Eclipses are very much in my price range, and sell for 12-14k in Canada.

Here’s one I’m looking at.

edit: it was there until autotrader pulled the ad.  Not that it much matters now.  Anyway, just a generic stock Eclipse, green.
